This problem tends to occur due to failure of the modem synchronizing with the local exchange.

• Recheck connection settings, as this error can be caused by dialing an incorrect access number number. You can find a local access number by visiting our Check Availability page.
• Restart your PC and attempt to reconnect as this can sometimes be caused by a synchronization issue.
• Delete and recreate the Dial-up Connection.
• Test the line connectivity by dialing the Internet dialup number directly from your phone handset. If you have trouble connecting you may need to contact your local telephone provider.
• If this problem has been ongoing for a long period of time, an upgrade or repair of the modem drivers may be required.
